Mrs. Griffin's Best Smashed Potatoes

for some strange reason, i got a craving for mashed potatoes this afternoon. i didn't want to make a lot, but just enough for me now and some for later. here's what i did:

fill a pot (or in my case, a saucepan) full of water and bring to a boil. when it's boiling, add a few pinches of salt.

wash, peel and cut into thin-ish chunks three small russett potatoes.

add potatoes to the boiling water. simmer for 10-12 minutes.

drain potatoes and add a tablespoon or two of milk and butter.
Smash, smash, smash! and then SMASH some more!

transfer to a bowl or plate and enjoy! i like sour cream and some bac-os on mine. :)

i love mashed potatoes. two suggestions i would make:

1. use half&half instead of milk. i used to only use milk but the last few times have gone with something richer and it makes all the difference. just be careful not to add too much; it's easy to add more liquid but hard to remove it. ;)
2. (if you like garlic) try throwing a couple cloves into the water when you're boiling the potatoes. better/easier than sauteing and adding it in afterwards. and keep them in there when you mash'em, they'll disappear.
